Lincad offers a comprehensive range of rechargeable batteries including its well-known LIPS (lithium-ion power system) range. These rechargeable ruggedised batteries can be used in a range of applications and markets including military, medical, marine and commercial.
Many of these heavy-duty batteries have been or are currently used in the defence and security sector but can also be adapted to meet specific requirements.

The LIPS 16 is a 24V, 80Ah lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery with RS232 serial communications and a press-to-test capacity display. Representing the latest in Li-ion battery technology and design, it has a similar form, fit and function to the LIPS 8 but with improved diagnostic capabilities and configurable operating parameters. Reserve capacity ensures that the LIPS 16 can be stored in a low state of charge for extended periods. It also features a self-discharge mode for long-term storage and transport.

The LIPS 16 is one of Lincad’s flagship products. Designed to provide high power and high capacity with easy manoeuvrability, it offers performance characteristics suitable for a range of military and other applications that require military grade performance.

The LIPS 15 is a 24V, 28Ah lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery with IrDA communications and two press-to-test capacity displays. Representing the latest in Li-ion battery technology and design, it has the same form, fit and function as the LIPS 10 but with improved capacity and diagnostic capabilities, and configurable operating parameters. Reserve capacity ensures that the LIPS 15 can be stored in a low state of charge for extended periods.

The BPMS Mk2 is a ruggedised uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that provides a regulated 24V DC supply to the host system. When operating on battery back-up, the BPMS Mk2 provides a 24V, 120Ah supply. It is available in different colour options and includes RS232 serial communications and a press-to-test capacity display.

Designed to power Leonardo’s LINAPS (Laser Inertial Artillery Pointing System) used on the L118 Light Gun and M777, it is engineered to the highest mechanical and environmental specifications. The Mk2 version incorporates improved capacity and diagnostic capabilities, and configurable operating parameters. Reserve capacity ensures that the BPMS Mk2 can be stored at a low state of charge for extended periods. It also features a self-discharge mode for long-term storage and transport.

Lincad’s Portable Power System provides a 230V AC supply for mains powered appliances when a regular mains supply is unavailable. It includes circuit protection and an integrated charger for recharging from a mains supply when not in use.

Based on high energy density lithium-ion technology that offers excellent performance and a long-life cycle, the Portable Power System can be used at locations such as information desks, exhibition stands, catering and market stalls, and building and construction sites.

The Subsea battery is a high capacity lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery developed for an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) used in the petrochemical industry, acting as the powertrain and providing power for the AUV’s sensors. It incorporates an integrated hard drive for data logging during its long mission profiles in a submarine environment.

The battery offers a typical example of Lincad’s bespoke high capacity AUV powertrain battery design, providing power management solutions within the most demanding environments.

The CUTLASS Mk2 battery is a high power lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery developed for Northrop Grumman’s CUTLASS explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) remotely operated vehicle (ROV), acting as the powertrain and providing power for the vehicle’s sensors and tools.

The battery offers a typical example of Lincad’s bespoke high power ROV powertrain battery design, providing power management solutions for mission-critical applications.

The Vortex battery is a 12V, 9Ah lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery using the distinctive twist-lock interface to attach to host equipment. It is available in several variants, with or without battery communications and press-to-test capacity displays.

Used across several applications, it is widely used for Thales’ Storm-H ultra-compact, lightweight personal electronic countermeasure (ECM) system.

The SquadNet battery is a bespoke 3.6V, 3Ah lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery designed for Thales’ SquadNet networking soldier radio.

Offering simplicity of design and functionality, it demonstrates Lincad’s ability to produce a robust, reliable and cost-effective solution in the absence of a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution.

The Laser battery is a bespoke 18V, 3Ah lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery designed for Leonardo’s man portable Type 163 Laser Target Designator.

Designed to keep weight for the end user at an absolute minimum, it demonstrates Lincad’s ability to satisfy the most demanding specifications.

The Soundranger is a 24V, 48Ah lead acid battery designed for Leonardo’s HALO (Hostile Artillery Locating) system and is available in different colours.

Providing a cost-effective solution to compliment lithium-ion (Li-ion) equivalents such as the LIPS 16, the Soundranger battery demonstrates that older technology can still prove a viable solution for certain applications.

The Soundranger is also available as a 24V, 100Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) variant. Backwards compatible with the lead acid version, it is an alternative battery solution for Leonardo’s HALO (Hostile Artillery Locating) system and is available in different colours.

The LFP Soundranger offers approximately twice the capacity and half the weight of the lead-acid Soundranger, and LFP offers improved safety over traditional lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery types.

Lincad is an authorised supplier of the Bren-Tronics BB2590 (lithium-ion (Li-ion)) and BB390 (nickel metal hydride (NiMH)) range of batteries used within a wide range of military applications.

Lincad is developing its own 12/24V, 13Ah BB2590 battery. Metal cased and with the ability to be repaired and refurbished, it improves the green credentials for this ubiquitous battery type.
