Lincad Recovery
It’s been a particularly challenging time for Lincad over the past year, having suffered a devastating fire at the end of January 2024 which caused catastrophic damage to the facility. All evidence suggests the fire was due to an electrical fault in a solar PV installation on the roof with no fault attributable to Lincad.
Remarkably, within the space of three months, manufacturing operations were back up and running from a temporary site. Robust business continuity plans ensured that we were in a strong position to come back from this force majeure event. Lincad staff have been nothing short of magnificent over the past twelve months, rolling up their sleeves to prepare the facility and then working tirelessly to fulfil orders affected by the fire.
Our customers have been incredibly supportive. We pride ourselves in the strong relationships we’ve developed with them over the years, and particular thanks must go out to colleagues at UK MOD, BAE Systems, Leonardo and Thales who have worked alongside us as we’ve got back on our feet. Our suppliers have also stepped up, offering excellent customer service to expedite supply of replacement stock, plant equipment and IT services.
The last year has provided a reset for Lincad and all our staff. The incident has brought a new sense of perspective and allowed us to reassess everything we do. The rebuild of the original facility is well underway and we’re scheduled to return to Ash Vale later this year. We’ve secured new business, taken on more staff and are excited by what the future holds. It’s been tough, we’ve learnt many lessons, but Lincad is coming back better and stronger in 2025.
